Needs

We usually feel like failures when we’re unable to accomplish what we set out to do or when a right turn ends up being a wrong turn. But why, then, do we also feel like failures when we are unable to satisfy another person’s needs? Are we really to blame for this or is this putting ourselves in a lose-lose situation? And when those needs we’re trying to satisfy are against our core beliefs is not being able to satisfy them still being a failure? Because it sure feels like it. It’s almost like if you aren’t capable of satisfying someone’s most basic, carnal needs then are you even capable of doing any better? Or is this longing to satisfy others really a cry for help. A cry detailing our own need to feel like we can make someone else happy in the wake of not being able to make ourselves happy. I guess my real question is: Why do we put other’s needs ahead of our own and then base our success and failure solely on whether or not we were able to satisfy these people?
